AUGUST FISHING ON THE NORTH COAST OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
By Randy Rode, Aug 9 2017 03:07PM
We have had the good fortune to have fished quite a few days during the first days of August, here on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, aboard our new sportfishing boat, “VAMOS”, and we have been doing well.
The Dorado bite has been consistent on a daily basis, with plenty of big bulls and cows around. Most of the action has been centered around 6,000` of water depth, which is only about 7 miles offshore!
Although you are almost guaranteed a bite when you are fishing a FAD, there has been some scattered sargasso around, producing a variety of different sized Dorado.
Fast trolling a few days ago, we caught a nice big, fat wahoo about 35#`s or so, which made a nice dinner for myself and my angler.
On that same trip, we hooked up an estimated 400#+ blue marlin, which ate a Moldcraft lure very agressively.
After a very spectacular series of jumps, dives, and other antics, we seemed to have the fish under control, but sadly, after another series of wild greyhounding jumps, he got wrapped up in the leader, and broke us off, but the show was almost as good as bringing him boatside for the release.
WE HAVE GREAT FISHING HERE ALL YEAR AROUND
